My philosophy is simple: I believe every woman is unique, beautiful and one-of-a-kind. Most of us search for ways to express the unspoken drama of our heart. Fashion reflects a woman's personality and self image. My purses speak to and reflect the spontaneity and delight born in each of us.

Having partnered with my former husband in creating two successful packaging businesses, I had semi-retired, divorced and remarried.

Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2000, changed my life. With the encouragement and untiring support of my husband Adam, in time I accepted that I do indeed have MS, but determined MS does not have me. Soon I tackled the task of rebuilding my concept of “Self” and my life.

Licensed in Property & Casualty Insurance I started a part time job with an American Family agent in Liberty, MO.

Mom taught me to sew when I was 8. I made all of my school clothes through high school. Then stopped.

In the Fall of 2006, I started talking about sewing again. In October, Adam purchased a 30 year old Kenmore machine for $30 from a thrift shop brought it home and said “There ya go baby, knock ‘em dead”.

I set about sewing again, robes and fleece hoodies for Christmas and clothes for work. It was obvious I hadn't lost “my touch”!

I placed business cards in the various fabric stores offering my talents as a seamstress for custom handmade garments.

Soon I got a call from a woman who wanted to know if I would like to sew for her purse business. I asked for her website, excited I went online.

I was "flabbergasted" when I saw 1 generic style and the prices she is commanding. My sister told me about another local site again, I was disappointed with one ordinary design with another inflated price.

Two years later, when a grant from the State of Missouri brought new machines and equipment of all kinds,
One-of-a-Kind, Custom HandBags was born.

My Mission is to offer fashion statements that reflect the diversity and beauty inherent in the feminine spirit.

My Vision is a company of women by women for women. A company defined by the promise of expansive inclusion. Opportunities for creative expression for clients and collaborative creativity for associates. Growth defined by possibilities rather than status quo.
